maybe, baby, you could keep me up in bed (so i wouldn't have to dream of banana trees)

the banana tree didn't belong in my backyard in new jersey & i think that's precisely why i liked to sit under it during the days that didn't belong to either summer or spring. i always had this horrible habit of wanting beautiful things out of context, like a snowflake in june or a clear sunny day at the beach in january. i wanted you that way too ( Read more... )

you should be a writer, of unmarked teritory.you always seem to get it right. you always swoon people with your words. like your words are a big plasma screen, shining up starlets and loves. and underneath trees. it drips with human beauty of want and desire and love.

There’s no moment I regret
Since the moment that we met
If our time has gone too fast
I’ve lived at last
I thought our love would be so beautiful
Somehow we make the whole world bright
I thought our love would be so beautiful
We’d turn the darkness into light
And still my heart is saying we were right
We were right

you know, when I was in kindergarten I learned "the banana tree song" and was obsessed with drawing banana trees for awhile :)hehe.
your posts always contain so many little treasures that I love to dig out. you are so wonderful darling, and you really don't do it for show. the gold's not all laid out on the table. your writing has so many layers <3

At the risk of sounding saccharine, snotty, and writers-critic: this is a gorgeous piece of prose! It seems you thought out every word so carefully, but you didn't overthink everything. It's not someone talking, but someone reflecting, in that heavyhanded way that walks the edge of melodrama without being annoying. You are talented, (though I'm sure you've heard that before!) Keep writing, and don't listed to your English teachers! Keep your fiction dripping with heavy adjectives. It's beautiful.
