Oh my god, of course. Of course it would happen like this. Any child of Sam's would be caught up in his bonkers life. I can't believe I hadn't thought of that.
And his forward-thinking attitudes becoming a barrier between him and Annie, oh gosh. So true.
And you called her Lucy. And there's a red diary like the red phonebox instead of blue. ILY.
"Don't you have one? Is she nicer?" Oh, honey, yes she is. So much.
Having to worry about her going out with his old mates, when he knows exactly what they were like, and everyone just thinking he's being overprotective. Poor Sammmm.
"You convinced Mum about Vanessa -- makes you all right in my book." ♥
"That's when you're supposed to tell someone, 'stead of keeping it to your own bloody self, letting it fester, eat you alive." GENE. OH GOD GENE NO SWEETHEART.
2006!Sam's snappishness before he remembers he's a human being, for 0.2 seconds. Perfectly in character.
He smells so clean. Like fresh laundry and sunshine. Tears. Blurring screen. As I read

AHHHH you fill my heart and soul with so much warmth. ;; ♥ And LOL, I actually didn't realize the possible reference "Lucy" might imply until I was already halfway through the fic, but... YOU'RE RIGHT. PROBABLY SUBCONSCIOUS ON MY PART? LOL.
Thank you for all of the kind comments and just augh flailing at you liking it so much and picking up on all the themes and aspects I was worried might get lost. Your prompt inspired an honest-to-god lightbulb moment when I read it, so I was extremely anxious when this thing went far over the due date and... I'M JUST SO GLAD I FINALLY GOT IT OUT FOR YOU.
But yes. You're far too kind, as always -- thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to write this (and the patience to finish)! ♥
Aw god, that was so bittersweet and beautiful. You have their voices so perfectly, Sam's especially. Lucy is 100% his and Annie's daughter, the way you portray her, she absolutely could fit into canon. And then the way you structured this fic! Just, altogether, amazing and beautiful. So glad I read this after a long and tiring day, it brought my spirits right back up. ♥
I was really apprehensive about writing what boils down to an OC fic, so that input is really relieving to hear, phew! Thank you so much for the kind words and I'm glad my humble fic could cheer up your day! :)
I'm in the middle of a long multi-chapter fic at the moment, so this was definitely a challenging exercise to try to force myself to be concise again -- I'm glad that you feel it reads as such! Thank you so much for the generous comments and for reading. \o/
