2 Dramas: Boys over Flowers and My Queen (敗犬女王)
My Queen(敗犬女王):
Initially I really liked this show. It reminded me of Kimi wa petto with the older-girl-younger-boy (姐弟恋) storyline. Of course, Lucas isn’t as cute as Momo, but the two characters do have chemistry. And then….the 学长 a.k.a. Leslie came into picture. At first he’s just this polar bear picture cum old flame who abandoned 无双, though they had many sweet precious memories, he must be someone “bad” to abandon her. I thought maybe 学长 was dead in a expedition to North pole(to take polar bear photos!) or something. And she went on and on about how much she likes him, freaking out about the polar bear photo when her house blew up, and even she fell into the hole, 学长 is the one she imagined being there being her first(although it changed to Lucas…). I like the development of Lucas and 无双, and really supported this pairing.
But starting from episode 9 when Leslie came back to Taiwan, I changed my mind. I really wanted Leslie to end up with 无双!! I wish they didn’t portray him as such a nice person. With the background of 无双 missing him so much, I thought she really like him. But now 无双likes Lucas? It makes me sad. Leslie has been keep her in his heart so long, and I thought 无双 does too. I mean, if Lucas can so easily (within months) creep into her heart, I don’t really think she really loved or loves Leslie. On the other hand, Leslie loves 无双 so much that he’s willing to let her go in the end, to pursue her happiness. =( The romantic in me will like to think that some love prevail even across distance and time. Sigh. Even not possible in reality, the show has emphasis on 无双’s loyalty and how much she missed him and how she remained single that I thought… It upsets me that their “love” just ended like that. Poor 学长!
Part of the reason I feel so upset is because I really like Leslie character compared to Lucas. He’s so cheeky, tricking Lucas twice, once telling him that when 无双 is upset, she’ll go toilet to sort out her feelings, resulting in Lucas rushing into the Ladies and getting whacked by the girls there. =P Second time is when he tricked Lucas into jumping into swimming pool by saying that if whoever wins the race will get 无双. Lucas jumped in so enthusiastically while Leslie just put on his jacket again. *laughs* Another reason why I like Leslie more is his passion as a photographer. I really admire that. His dreams: “polar bears, instant noodles, 单无双.” <3! At first, because Lucas’s flashback with his ex-girlfriend is always at the beach surfing, I thought maybe he wanted to be a professional surfer but quit because of his girlfriend’s death. But….it seems that he don’t mind being a doctor (he dropped out of medical school after her death). And they don’t show him surfing or even thinking of surfing during all the episodes I watched. Lucas is always misunderstanding 无双, so easily angered, and so flirty with all the girls! That’s one thing I don’t like about Lucas, he’s too nice to all the girls, there’s a line to be drawn ya know? Leslie has the looks, character; he’s so humorous, understanding, sweet, loyal, mature, calm, cool…..why didn’t 无双 end up with him?!! T__T

I really like the Korean version compared to the Taiwanese one. The setting is so much more glamorous; the riding, racing, shooting…I like Junpyo, and don’t really mind Jandi ending up with Junpyo. But…but…why do they make the scenes with Jihoo so sweet. She even thought of Jihoo as her “soulmate”!! I mean, if jihoo is her soulmate, then Junpyo is her….? “bodymate”?! Jihoo is the one who comes to her rescue every time, the one who wipes her tears, who supports and encourages her. And she kept saying things like “it’s because you’re here, I’ll be ok” and “you’re my fireman” and yet when Jihoo seriously confess to Jandi, she just laughs it off. And the ending is so disappointing! Does Junpyo really need to propose to Jandi twice?! And Jandi trying to play try to get when she tries to look so needy and upset when Junpyo lost his memories.
