Firstly, I have been accepted to Manchester! I'll be a student again from September 18th. YEAH!

Secondly, I have won tickets to the Summercase festival in Barcelona! Not only that but I've also won flights and hotel accommodation! THANK THE GOOD OLD NME. On the bill are New Order, Primal Scream, Belle and Sebastian, Sigur

Thanks. I will want to pick your brain about lots of things - where to live for a start! From what I can see, Withington looks like a good area - cheap-ish, studenty but kind of laid back, and comparatively safe. And Chorlton, too, although that looks a bit further out.

I hope you hear from MMU soon. I thought Manchester University was tardy, taking three weeks to get my references from admissions to the department, but your situation is terrible.

Oh yeah, I'll definitely be looking at a shared house. I'm happy to take a teeny tiny room (bed, desk, wardrobe) in a shared house if it keeps costs down! I want to live in a shared house rather than halls, as well, because it's not just cheaper (Manchester Halls seem a rip-off to me) but also more 'normal'. I lived for three years in college at Cambridge and it starts to feel quite weird.
