The Vampire Diaries "Children of the Damned" ~ Baby, you can invade my personal space anytime

Just a quick pre-statement. These reviews are simply the way I see the episode and the characters, with ranting and bashing thrown in. I do not enjoy Stefan's character at all. If you have read my previous reviews, you know this. If not, this note should tip you off. Just to say, I will not be responsible for any hurt feelings. So, please, no ( Read more... )

LMAO It took my awhile to decide whether I should do one again or not. lol

The entire episode really flowed well with the way the flashbacks scenes ebbed along with the present day ones and the conflict between the characters. The entire episode should have just as well been titled "The Loss of Innocence" because that's what it was basically about for all the characters.

I actually don't see Stefan as having any love for Damon at all. He hasn't showed anything to evidence that. Damon on the other hand...

That scene in the woods had to be the most powerful the show has ever aired. And, yes, Nina was absolutely amazing last night.

The two always meet once in a while and when Stefan thinks he's got Damon's trust again, Damon does something to make Stefan regret it as he stated.

Sorry for butting in here, but this statement irks me a lot in the fact that I feel as if you're putting all of the mis-trust off onto Damon's shoulders, and you're almost implying that Stefan hasn't ever done anything or couldn't quite possibly do anything that would equal him making Damon regret that he could possibly trust him. I don't think that's necessarily fair and I think you're looking at it a bit biasly, imho. I don't really know you or anything, but that's just the way this came off to me.

I think they're both quite capable of doing things to make the other one not be able to trust them. And, I've noticed that you almost contradict yourself with what you said above when you say, "there's so much misunderstanding and mistrust between the brothers (...) they still are stabbing each other in the back." So, I ask ... what exactly do you mean ( ... )

It may seem like I'm implying that it's all Damon's fault--I'm not. Sorry if I'm not clear enough, I'm just trying to present the Stefan side of things because all I've been seeing is the Damon's side (which can be biased as well) and with that presented (which I do agree on a lot of the factors as I'm not saying I don't), I didn't feel I really need to re-state the Damon side of the situation. I've always thought the mistrust between the two brothers lie in the both of them (which in the greater scheme, the story is about the brothers' relationship with one another more so than the romance imo).

There's so much misunderstanding and mistrust between the brothers (...) they still are stabbing each other in the back."What I meant was this situation is an unending cycle which started with Katherine imprisonment. Their initial relationship was very close, trusting (Hell they were fine with Katherine sleeping with both of them though Katherine may have influenced Stefan anyway). Though unintentional, it was Stefan's fault that Katherine ( ... )

Honestly, the last episode was probably my favorite. Damon did indeed show a lot of character growth in it and we were able to understand where he came from and why he acts the way he does. Gosh, I love that man so much <3

great review...was well thought out and your assessments of the characters' developments are to the point...this is my favorite episode so far, because it gives a lot of info on the pre-vampire Damon.

p.s. i didn't even think about the fact that Isobel may still be alive (and probably a vamp)...thanks.

You've said pretty much exactly what I was thinking while watching the episode. I just have one thing to add: the scene where Damon lets Elena go back to Stefan in the woods, when he strokes her hair, it seems almost like an apology. I definitely don't think he would have tried to hurt her unless he knew it was the only way to get Stefan to do exactly what he wanted.

And the part where Damon was hanging out with the Gilbert family was too funny and kind of ironice, in a way. After all, we haven't seen Stefan being overly sociable with Elena's family and it seems to me that the guy who cooks, chats with your aunt, and plays video games with your little brother would be good boyfriend material. :P

Do you mind if I friend you? I'm sure I'll be wanting to read more of your reviews. ♥

I really enjoyed reading your review. This episode was perhaps my favorite in that it revealed so much backstory, especially about Damon. You can tell that Stefan and Damon were really great brothers, but it's the whole fiasco with Katherine that drove them apart. It was heartbreaking to see that for once, Damon let someone in on his plan, that being Stefan, and Stefan went ahead and betrayed him.

The ending in the forest, with Damon and Elena, practically brought me to tears. Ian delivered so much emotion in that scene: betrayal, hurt, pain. Seeing Damon nuzzle her hair and let her go gently convinces me of how much he really does care about her.

"No! It's just because Ian even has sexual chemistry with inanimate objects." LOL, isn't that the truth! For a quick minute, I was about to ship them too. Ian in the kitchen? A beautiful thing to imagine. <3
