Shipping Wars...

Oct 10, 2005 02:01

I have no problem with admitting defeat or when I’m wrong. I have no problem with agreeing to an opposing argument if the case proves to make sense to me. But I do have a problem with people assuming and people who, themselves, cannot have the backbone to admit when they are wrong. And this is the main reason why there is shipping debates; people ( Read more... )

You took the words right of my mouth. Bravo *claps* That's exactly how I feel.

What nerves me is that there are people who oppose H/Hr that are willing to resort to attacking.

*nods* I just think that since they're "canon," so to speak, wouldn't they go do stuff to celebrate their ship instead of concentrating all their time on mocking us?

*shakes head*

I wish I knew. And I don't think I'll ever comprehend their intentions.

Euhm, hi. I don't know you and I found your journal because I liked your icon so much and I wanted to find out who made it ( ... )

Um, okay. That was a little hostile. Ladie-A wasn't making any absolute statements that HHr shippers are all victims or all peace-wanting. There are some people (on both sides) that harass the other ships. And there are people on both sides who don't harass other ships. But she was commenting on a community that exists specifically to bash HHr shippers and that it seems right now, after the JKR interview, that many RHr shippers are throwing her statements in the HHr ship's face ( ... )

I’m sorry that you have been hassled by some H/Hr shippers in the past but that isn’t what my post is about. And I’m not out to make H/Hr perfect little angels either. I’m simply referring to one community who chooses to steal site content and using it to mock us. I really don’t mind if you want to have a different opinion or even believe us to be wrong. I haven’t been in the H/Hr fandom for as long as you have been in your R/Hr fandom. This shipping war is a new experience for me, and yes I do see that some R/Hr’s are nice. I have an online friend who is one but we never argue about who’s illiterate and who’s right.

Anyways, all I’m saying is the shipping war is getting crazier by the minute. People resort to personally attacking and no one wants to back down. It isn’t fair to those few good shippers (R/Hr and H/Hr) who get dragged into this. There will be certain people who feel obligated to fight for no reason. And that’s what keeps the shipping war going.

By the way, weezerchi, how do I credit you on LJ? I only know how to do ( ... )

I also have friends who ship other ships. Actually, in fanon, I ship Harry/Ron, so I have absolutely no problem with other ships.

You like slash? I'm into some Draco/Harry and Draco/Blaise.

It's just that, what I got from your post was that all H/hr shippers have been very nice and that this all just started by R/hr shippers bashing them, and that is not true, it comes from both sides...

Indeed. It's from both sides. That's what I was trying to point out. In this case, I was refering to one community that was bashing a dear friend of mine and her site. They went as far as personally attacking. But I don't condone her reactions because she was sinking to their level. That's why the shipping debates never end. When one starts, the other continues and on and on it goes.

And it's not just the shipping. I also have encountered many H/Hr shippers journals who bash JKR for it. Who say that HBP is a bad book, that she is a terrible writer, that the plot sucks... Just because their ship did not happen. That is just a bit to far I think. ( ... )

Yep, I like slash :)
Like I said, Harry/Ron is my OTP. I'm not into Harry/Draco just because I don't really see them together.
Ron's my favorite, so I mainly read fic's with him in it. I do enjoy a good Ron/Draco story once in a while, but they are so rare...

I do think that HBP is a good book because I believe that the plotline of the Horcruxes was very well thought of. And also because I disliked OotP, HBP seemed much better to me.
Of course, some things did bother me (like the quidditch trials in the beginning) but you can never be fully content.

I really believe that these shipping wars will end. Like everything else, it's always about the new hot thing.
When all the books have been published and all the movies have been made, the HP world will grow quiet and only the true fans will remain. I've seen the same thing happening in the LOTR world.
But of course it will take a while before we get there...

Never read any seen any Ron/Draco. Interesting combination...hmm. Well my favorite book is and still remains to be, Goblet of Fire. OoTP comes third and HBP last. Oh well.

Yes, I think it will end when book 7 comes out because the final ship (be whatever) will be established and there will be no point in arguing over it. But I still think the fandom will continue because the movies, graphics and fanfiction. Gotta love the fanfiction! ^.^

GOF is indeed a very good book, though POA is my number 1 :) That plot was just jaw dropping.
I didn't really like OotP because the clou of the story (the prophecie) was so obvious... I mean, Harry has to kill Voldemort or Voldemort has to kill Harry, that was the clou?? I already knew that from book 1! I mean, that's what's it's all about, no?
I thought it very dissapointing.

Oh yes... Fanfiction... A slash fic a day keeps the doctor away :)
The fandom will continue, no doubt, it will just become smaller then it is now I reckon.
