Tribe is a networking website similar to Friendster or Myspace. It's arguably more "alternative," though, with less advertising and threads based on common interests--butoh dancing, raw cooking, etc. Someone once described it to me as "Myspace for cool people," though "Myspace for hippies" might also suffice.
