I think I have a moderately high pain level for a lot of things (all the various piercings I've had over the years that didn't make me flinch), but withstanding the cold isn't one of them. I take it that forcing yourself to remove the covers when getting out of bed is a daunting task? My parents scrimp on heat in the winter (as opposed to air conditioning in the summer), and the blanket aspect of getting out of bed is almost harder than the waking up aspect.

My technique is to crank up the space heater and let the room heat up `to a bearable temp before climbing out of my blanket and sleeping bag. I live on the upstairs level of a house where most folks live downstairs, and we consented to not having any heat at all upstairs, so the space heater is like a little ceramic life-god.
