So I watched the new "Batman" movie. Firstly, the thing that's not a spoiler is how much I noticed Bane sounds very much like a cross between Darth Vader and the Pepperidge Farm guy.

No, it was based on this guy, a boxer known as "The King of the Gypsies"-

Actually it wasn't really the lower class that attached the wealthy in Gotham, but the criminals that Bane released. By the end, most of the 'average people' stayed inside and just tried to survive, while the aggressors (Bane's criminals) were the ones running the city.

That's also how it went in "No Man's Land", where Gotham was hit by an earthquake and set apart from the rest of society, and the criminal element took over the city (lead by most of Batman's enemies).
