This is so dumb... but I was watching old episodes and realizing just how much airtime they get in various boats over the series... so, ya. Series Cliche, I suppose.

“But… what do you mean boats aren’t supposed to fly?”

Franky looked at the mess near the harbor, and took a moment to thank the universe that the Thousand Sunny was made of Adam wood.

“Sunny was designed to fly for short periods - built to withstand both the force of prepulsion, and the impact of landing. Other boats are not meant to fly.”

“But… Merry went to sky island (and we built on wings!) and flew a little a few other times, and Sanji’s boat flew back at Arlong Park, and… that guy who tried to steal Nami was flying when we met him… boats fly all the timeThe shipwright was starting to wonder why their previous ship had liked them enough to become sentient after all that, but kept his lips tightly sealed on the thought ( ... )

You go, Franky! The way Luffy's going, he might make the fishing-boat feel bad for not being able to fly very well... *tsk tsk* But Franky's repair will fix it, of course. And at the same time, you can see why Luffy would think of boats as flying a lot - itIt happened at Marineford, too!

The shipwright was starting to wonder why their previous ship had liked them enough to become sentient after all that

Heh! Good question, Franky.

Edit: I forgot the info at the top. Also, perhaps I should mention that this is the first time I've written this pairing, and I'm not sure if Vivi might seem a little OOC. Not on purpose, though!

Title: Down Payment sort of provisional, perhaps I'll retitle it later if I repost
Word Count: 757
Pairing: Nami/Vivi
Rating: PG
Setting/spoilers: Set in volume 23, right after Luffy's woken up in the palace.

Vivi looked rather tired as she left the sickroom where Luffy was finally awake and well. No wonder, thought Nami, falling in beside her as they walked through the palace corridors. She was ready to offer an arm for support, but Vivi managed to make it on her own. She walked quite close to Nami, though, perhaps fearing the fatigue would make her stumble after all. Nami wasn't about to complain, as she breathed in the lovely scent of Vivi's hair and basked in the happiness of being right next to a Vivi who was no longer tense, worried and in a constant hurry.

A voice in the back of her head was muttering, This isn't going to last, you ( ... )

Vivi took a deep breath and continued with a serious expression. "Thank you, for being the one who first agreed to make a deal with me, and for persuading Luffy and the others. And... I'm sorry my country's so poor, and it turns out I can't actually pat the money I said I would at the start."

Nami sighed, secretly relieved: this at least sounded just like regular Vivi. "Oh, don't start with that again. We already - Eh?"

Vivi was hushing her silently, putting one finger in front of Nami's lips, but not touching them. "I wasn't finished yet," she said mildly. She had finally started to blush faintly, but that didn't calm Nami down - if anything, it just made her look more irresistible. "I thought that I - this debtor may just be able to pay in, in another way, should the, um, creditor agrees to the terms."

Nami felt herself go beetred now, yet singularly unwilling to back away. "Vivi, are you saying - you don't really mean that you..." Her voice was cut off as Vivi put both hands on her shoulders and quite thoroughly kissed her, ( ... )
