Amazon Credit Card??

Okay, many of you know, I hate credit cards. really I do. Joe and I, or rather, I, get in trouble with them. So we are slowly closing all of ours. Even the one that I've had for 10 years (a Citibank one, THANK GOD I did, did you see they wanted gov't bailout PLUS to buy a ridiculously expensive private jet. Asshats...anyway, back on topic). So I ( Read more... )

I have one. Pretty much what it says - you get a $30 credit off your first purchase. For the first couple months, I don't think I've been charged any interest - but then I also pay it off within the grace period. From what I've read from others, you get like 3 "points" for Amazon purchases, and then lesser amount of "points" for using it at other places. Once you've accumulated enough points, then you get an Amazon gift card - or something like that. I haven't really kept track.

But I've had it for a few months and no problems. Amazon defaults to that as your credit card, so if you want to pay with something else, you have to make sure you change it.

Had one for a bit, just so I could get the $30 off a big purchase. It's a good card. No problems.

I don't think it's the particular card that is the problem...it's just that it is all part of the credit card game...they want you in...that's how they grab you. My hubby and I only have one credit card. It's the one we use for online purchases only. Otherwise, we just don't use them. We follow Dave Ramsey's philosophy for the most part (author of Finacial Peace)...which is ...NO credit cards. So as tempting as they are sometimes, I ignore the credit card gimmicks.

I would just ignore it and pretend you didn't see it. Credit Cards aren't in business to give you free gift cards, they have to make their money somehow. I *might* do it if I didn't have to put my purchase on the card. I sign up for store cards if they'll allow me to pay however I want, but not if I have to put it on their card.

they run a credit report which is a ding on your credit. if you don't care about that, and are going to pay it off/close it right away... Go for it! :)
