*sappy smiiiillleeeee* I don't know how you manage to always post when I happen to wander onto livejournal. You're awesome like that.
Did I go straight to Youtube and listen to this song while I looked at your picture? HELL YES, I DID.
I never get over how masculine your Aziraphale and Crowley are. And the laugh lines on Aziraphale's face make me melt into a PUDDLE. And my my, Crowley's hair looks a bit disheveled, no? Methinks Aziraphale's perfectly manicured hands have been going to town. *giggle*
Happy Valentine's Day, dearest! This made me smile and smile and smile.
"Did I go straight to Youtube and listen to this song while I looked at your picture? HELL YES, I DID."

I had that song stuck in my head the whole time I was drawing, sitting there thinking "Isn't this just the sappiest Az/ Crowley song ever?". Which, of course, is why it's the perfect title. I never know whether it's a good or a bad thing that everyone thinks my versions are so masculine... It's just, well, they're very male in the book (maybe not macho... certainly not macho) so that's how I envision them. :)
Oh no no, don't think I'm meaning something bad by saying they're masculine. It's a GOOD THING. A very good thing! I enjoy almost all art of Aziraphale and Crowley, but it's a rare thing to find them portrayed in such a masculine, sexy way. So my observation is ALL APPROVAL. I think your version and Eldanis's versions are my favorite. Her Crowley makes me want to fan myself a bit.
And they ARE guys (very much so) in the book. Neither of them are what I'd consider all that feminine. Hell, even Aziraphale, who is supposed to be stereotypically gay (haha, a tree full of monkeys) doesn't REALLY come across that feminine.
Oh Eldanis! I LOVE her art! The lines are just so beautiful and her proportions and oh! I have the fan myself over the TECHNIQUE before I even look at the content.
Yeah, I've never seen Az as very feminine, but most gay men I've met aren't. They're just men. I think it might be a misperception based in how open he is with his emotions (great scene of love, ahem...)and his general bitchiness (and men can be sooo bitchy. My fiancee is the biggest bitch in the WORLD) that so many artists think he's girly.
GAH! I feel very guilty about this piece, very very guilty. Because when it happened I was sitting there, trying to work on the cover you asked me for, and instead they just started making out all over Photoshop... Really. This file was titled "Titanic Cover" and I had to change it because the boys couldn't keep it in their pants. Soooo unprofessional...
How'd you know exactly what I wanted for Valentine's Day?
No, no, it's not about me. It's about what they want. :) Absolutely beautiful work - I love Crowley's mussed hair and their well-kissed lips and Aziraphale's slightly startled expression.
Well, ahem, I'm certainly glad that you like this.
And thank YOU for writing that lovely piece of fan fiction that inspired it. I wasn't going to draw anything for Valentines and then you popped in with the lingerie and the candles and DESTROYED my mind with the sexy... so yep.
Sorry to be so delayed responding here but I wanted to say how much I enjoyed the sheer vitality of your piece.
Several people have commented on the masculinity of both of them, and I do see that too. I also don't see them as feminine, especially in the anime tradition, but you take the strongly marked brows and defined jawlines a step further than I usually see them.
Slash per se isn't that much to my taste and I usually skim more graphic passages in text and appreciate restraint in art. But even with that preference, I have to say quite apart from it, I really admire the way you edit your scenes down to essentials--you focus in on the heart of a scene, an authentic "moment" as you've been doing with the "Titanic" illustrations.
It's fine story-telling, which is my favorite trait, and honest collaboration with an author.
Wow, thank you so much! Knowing that you appreciate the piece outside of the content means a great deal to me.
It would probably surprise most people on L/J to learn that I actually don't like any slash except Az and Crowley. Most of my other ships are cannon, so I can sympathize with you when it comes to appreciating restraint with pairings like this.
Essentials, such a lovely way of thinking of it (I've always thought of it as laziness...). Your comments are always so inspiring to me, thank you again for the kind words!
I love their expressions - Crowley is so intent and sexy and nngh, and Aziraphale looks startled like someone's walked in and he's caught in the act, and their lips are slightly red and puffy and well-kissed and Crowley's COLLARBONE and hnngh. I want to lick and suck on that collarbone, for starters. >_>

"Crowley, there are people watching us!"
"Let 'em. They can look but they can't touch."
