Sheer what-the-hell quotient is through the roof.
I'm sorry, but the Phantom is Michael Crawford. I'm going to hate the voice of whoever they cast for it unless it's almost identical ( Read more... )

I think you've summed up my general reaction. (I'm less attached to a particular actor/voice, but otherwise... yeah.)

I have no problem with him in other roles, but I walked out of the room when my parents were watching the Phantom movie because it was the wrong voice, couldn't they tell?

...I have no idea how I managed seeing it live. Maybe the "ooh, Broadway" was sufficient distraction?

But, yeah. I do realize that's just me.

I know! *headdesk*

And I agree 110% on Michael Crawford being the Phantom. I can't stand the movie because Gerard Butler can't sing worth anything. (I've actually seen the show once on stage, but the voices didn't bother me so much there, maybe because they could all actually sing. *shrug*)

But I could not agree more.

Amen at Michael Crawford as Phantom.

In high school, there was this gorgeous concert that aired on tv for Webber's birthday. The one thing that drove me crazy was that Antonio Banderas sang the Phantom songs.

I also had no problem with the live show I saw.
