Part II

"it's not perfection, how boring if it is"

“What am I doing?” Astoria wonders aloud around the girly, menthol cigarette she’s just dug out of her brown leather handbag, hands still sifting for her wand or the little ivory lighter (whichever surfaces first).
“What are you doing what?” Draco presses, eyes narrowed suddenly.

Okies, I'm not sure where to start. First of all, I suppose I should say that I'm a bad reviewer because I read the first part and never left a comment. Very bad of me. Obviously, since I'm back, I enjoyed it.

I liked this part as well. Although the preoccupation of the characters with smoking did seem a little... ah, over the top at times. I liked the setting - it's different - away from the usual settings that HP authors seem to fall back on. I also liked the descriptions of Astoria's past and her time at school. Very nicely done.

Thanks for sharing.

(if the Hat sorted women instead of little girls, Madame Malkin’s could do away with skirts and jumpers trimmed in any other colours than silver and green; cunning, manipulative sirens, all of them).

somehow this moment (there will only ever be one, just this once in a back alley of muggle Edinburgh when he held her up against him and still didn’t know how her lips felt) is far more precious.

Eeee. LOVE. This is really delightful! I'm hooked. These parenthetical sentences are fantastic.

These vignettes are mildly addictive; I've just read the first, but I loved the second more. I feel as though I'm watching it unfold in my mind, which I feel is a testament to your writing. I love the alley moment.

For one thing I love Jimmy Eat World. :D But for another thing the Draco that is portrayed is amazing. He's still Draco with his snark and his general Slytherin-ness, but this is just a really good picture of after. Lovely.
