Aw, that's actually quite cute! Should I start calling you the High Lady Alys now?
My other three were two pictures of a fighter plane named Amanda Jane and a picture from Johnny Mnenomic hosted by a girl named amanda, and called jane, so I got really lucky with my doll.
(Although, psst, I'm amandajane5, some other bitch nice girl beat me to the numberless one, although i'm not at all bitter that she never posts because she posts all the time!)
Hmmm... High Lady Alys... I kinda like the sound of that. ::grin:: Nah. I think I'll stay regular old Lady Alys. My namesake, Lady Alys Vorpatril, who is described in the earlier books of the series as a "social barracuda", would think it pretentious.
My other choices were:
1) a person, presumably the Lady Alys of Dale mentioned below, dressed in armor, brandishing a sword in the middle of a clearing with non-costumed folk looking on;
2) a bunch of costumed people in what looks to be a parking lot, though the caption assures me it's Lady Alys of Dale teaching leatherworking;
3) a headshot of someone called "Lady Alys de Wilton" who belongs to some other SCA chapter.
Hello. I just dropped by because you'd commented in the lmbujold community. I figure anybody willing to take on the character of Alys Vorpatril deserves respect and encouragement.
Lovely journal color scheme, and the icon is one I'm sure Herself would approve.
She is a formidable woman, isn't she? Despite the fact that she really hasn't gotten much screen time, she just exudes strength. I love her interactions with General Haroche.
"Haroche actually had the nerve to tell memethat it was no sight for a lady. I asked what he had been doing during the War of Varodarian's Pretendership."
I've always wanted to be the fly on the wall for that conversation...

I've had a mental image for years now of a book. Dark blue cover with silver lettering: Barrayaran Etiquette, A. Vorpatril
If you ever feel inclined to write it, I suspect you might get willing vendors among the people who are currently selling the Vorkosigan provender.
