Grandnephew's Death

I just got an email from my sister in Pennsylvania that the second oldest son of our 38-year-old niece was shot to death in his hometown of York, Pennsylvania. I don’t know all the details yet. I haven’t seen my niece, Holly, since she was around 20-years-old. It may actually have been earlier than that. She has had a troubled life. Let’s leave it

Oh, that's awful. My condolences to you all.

I've actually driven on Queen Street in York. It's not what I'd call the best neighborhood, but it's also not one where shootings are particularly common.

It's a "rough" neighborhood, granted, but homicides are not common in York. I'm still trying to get my head around all this.

My sister gave me our niece, Holly's, address in York. (Holly is Shamar, the shooting victim's, mother.) I wasn't even sure where she was. I'll write and offer her our sympathy and loving thoughts. You never know what may bring a family together after years of estrangement.
