I have had symptoms of osteoarthritis at the base of my right thumb for about the last 10 years.  The symptoms I have are pain, swelling and stiffness.  I often experience sharp pain when doing simple things like twisting doorknobs, holding a pen to write, opening jars, trying to hold a sewing needle, etc.  I work in a clinical laboratory where my ( Read more... )

Good luck! I have OA, but it's mostly in the little finger of my left hand .... painful, but not that much of a barrier to activity. Now and then I get a "flare" in the base of my right thumb, though, and I know how that can interfere with daily life when it hits.

Thank you for the good wishes! Not being able to properly use the thumb on one's dominant hand is the pits, isn't it?
