What a shame about the pear tree. Deer decimated several of our lilies, and sometimes wander to our raspberries, but we don't have fruit trees for them to munch on.

I am surprised they would bother the raspberries since they have thorns, but if they are hungry enough, they go after all the "deer resistant" plants.

Oh dear, and you probably put a lot of work into that pear tree.

No, it was fairly new--I planted it late spring. But it is an expensive deer snack!
