I know that all of you seem to be pretty level headed. I just want to warn you to NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER give out your bank account information over the phone to what seems to be your bank contacting you to update information. We have had at least 6 customers give out their info to people claiming to be calling from their bank. Your bank will ( Read more... )

I got the Ebay mail twice now and I Ebay. Worst part is they actually use the Ebay logo and everything and it looks very authentic. I almost fell for it but contacted Ebay first. They never got back to me so I completely disregarded it and haven't had any trouble Ebaying since.

The worst thing is, those emails look so official, a lot of ordinarilly smart people could be fooled. I only recently heard about those scanner-scammers on NPR. That's pretty brilliant, actually. You really have to hand it to them. To sit in a van all night at a laptop collecting debit card numbers and PINs with your wireless camera and scanner, and then making new cards with that info encoded on them is sheer genius. Then you just take those cards to some rinky-dink atm in a bar, and withdraw the maximum. Wow. If I were the criminal type, that would be right up my alley. It's a good thing I'm the honest, law-abiding sort. You could make a killing with a scam like that. It's so much smarter than clubbing people over the head on their way out of the booth, and far more lucrative.

The worste part is that banks are eating all of these customer disputes. If it is a pinned transaction we do not have chargeback rights. I bet we have lost thousands this year to ATM/Debit Card fraud. I am very picky about where I use my Debit Card.
