Things have been going well, thus the lack of posting. ;-)

So. Honor in fighting then.  The point that I actually want to make here is that a person can decide that being honorable means that other people perceive you as such.  A person may also decide that a concept like honor is not necessarily based completely in perception and opinion.  This is ( Read more... )

As I posted in response to this on the Fencing forum:

I call the shot 'correctly' and loudly enough for all to hear. Should my opponent have a question, or the marshal, we can talk about it. I call them as 'I' see them, not to the crowd's pleasure, as that undermines both my, and my opponents honor. This is based on the honor system, and if I call them because of perceptions, that isn't based on honor, it's based on perception of people who are not in the armor, or the fight. If my opponent calls 'fabric', fine, that just gives me another opportunity to throw a better shot.
