So, apprently a new  "club" has opened in the New Orleans area. I have heard wonderful things about the people running it and from what I understand they  have a "play room" for people of like mind. Most clubs are private and since they aren't charging to actually have sex, they aren't breaking any laws. There are zoning ordinances and the like they have to follow - which is why the vast majority of clubs are not in residential areas. Of course, it also helps to fly under the radar to exist as a byob place - no liquor license needed.

As far as bdsm, there is no such thing as consensual battery but most law enforcement know about the existence of such clubs and look away because it is consensual. As long as the clubs keep their noses clean, there is no ripple effect of crime in the area and the neighbors aren't bitching, then the police have more important things to do.
