What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Inland North

You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks ( Read more... )

Wow Deb! You actually got the bar almost all the way to the right. Guess you and me have stronger accents than Dante and Pat.

I thought that was so funny myself. All those dang words - I prounouce them differently, lol! I'd love to hear how some of the same words are prounouced by some of the other American accents. :)

No kidding! Of course, we've got friends out here from Oregon, Nebraska, Texas, Washington, New Jersey, etc...and I really don't hear much difference in the way any of us talk. Travis, who is from Nebraska says he hears it. We talked about it one time, and he said that of the group of us from Michigan, our friend Bob has the strongest accent, followed by me...with Dante having the faintist accent. He says we all sound like we are from the "North"...whatever that means. Dante says he also hears an accent in the way I talk...but he's never able to pick out what exactly makes the way I speak different. The only times I notice accents are when they are pretty obvious...like our friend from Austria, our friend from Australia, the south, Boston and New Yorkers.

That is so neat! I mean I can definitely hear the southern accent, but past that and well maybe like a New Yorker accent... but yeah, after that all the rest is very subtle. See, I don't think I have an accent at all, but what do I know what others hear and think really? :)
