And here's why I don't mind being a little handwavy, here, myself, seeing as how it was the writers who got all handwavy with the geography first. I originally placed my Shipwreck Cove somewhere near the Hawaiian islands, but, being across Panama, sans canal, from the Caribbean, it does no good and might as well be in SE Asia... my thoughts were more about the last place we see Jack -- Tortuga -- and how my story placed him then in Shipwreck Cove within a few months of AWE. And even though he's seen in a one-man craft both times, it stands to reason (and therefore went without saying) that he had some other method of transport in-between... So, if Will and Barbossa are currently placed off the coast of Brazil, and Elizabeth and Jack are currently somewhere in the South Pacific... it would be within reason that they could come into contact with one another within a matter of months, travelling around the Cape... right?
Then since I consider you to be the historical authority in these waters, I can keep going in that direction :) Thanks for the feedback -- I really needed it!
