as a gay man with language training and computer programming skills, i wouldn't feel comfortable relying on prejudice to keep me safe.

Well girls don't float my boat but I'm only slightly chubby and have no language skills and only a minimal understanding of my computer. And by that I mean that my dad knows more than I do. I am canon fodder.

But yeah you've got the skillz man, they might get over themselves for that. Change never comes from the right corners.

I also have the feeling that the civilian angle is there for those who are physically and ...sexually unable to perform in a military fashion. The'll make sure to use every last one of us.

if it makes you feel any better, i have read a ton of commentary (new republic, salon, etc.) and the General Wisdom seems to be that most of these bills expanding the draft are, in fact, anti-war strategy. they're not designed to succeed; they're designed to make the news, and therefore make the war less popular.

however, anything can happen. passports ready, kids! ;-)

On the bright side, the bill never went anywhere. However Sen. Ernest Hollings from South Carolina needs to be beat upside his old head.
