What breed(s) of chicken are you raising?

My family used to have Rhodies and hybridized Araucanas - they're very hardy, reliable layers (we could count on at least two eggs every day from the laying hens), and really tame, friendly and docile if you hand-raise them. Araucana eggs are beautiful - we used to get eggs with teal, green, and pinkish colored outer shells.

We had troubles with feral dogs and woodland predators, too, but that diminished with the addition of banty roosters to the mix. The banties are real scrappers, and there weren't a lot of critters that wanted to face up to them if they got their feathers up.
