my aunt had a 20 year old cow ponie that was clutzy as all hell, except when there was cattle around. this horse you could almost just let out on the cattle riderless and through years of experience and knowledge of the routine he probably could corral them on his own. I used to ride him exclusively on trails and hils and he would trip up all the time but when we ventured near the cattle pens on BLM land you could feel him tighten up and heart start to race even after 20 years of chasing them through foothills and canyons. amazing. He took off with me once and dumped me once when a car drove by, ( he did that legs splayed in each direction thing which resulted in rapid altitude loss)

I'd offer to kiss it and make it better, but (a) I'm in California, and (b) I hate standing in long lines.
