It's a girl!

After many days (and nights) of watching, waiting, and checking up on her for at least 30 minutes at a time (and usually much longer), every 2 hours, 'Gerin still snuck up on us.

I'm trying to picture foal mauling now. It sound a bit like molesting a baby horse, which I suppose can't be far off the mark. How often and to what degree do you have to molest a baby horse to make it suitable for interacting with humans?

There are a couple of spots where it feels like I'm molesting a baby horse too. I just try to think like a vet or a mom for such spots.

A reasonable metric for imprint training is 1 hour right after birth. Another hour during their first day. And another hour in the first 3 days. That pretty much does the trick.

They say you can under do it, but that you cannot overdo it.
