Real life - or, I haven't told any of you what I'm doing in about 3 years.

Feb 06, 2010 16:54

Find myself with a little time, so I figured I'd make a real-life update - I don't do these very often, and I figure I should maybe endeavor to for the people who are actually here 'cause they like me and not just because I write.

That being said, if you're just here because I write, you can feel free to skip this entry. Nothing fandom-related to be had. )

You did a lot better with the Platelet thing than I do with just getting blood taken for tests. D:

Dunno - I'm just built fairly big, so stuff like that doesn't bother me, I guess.

I have no idea, then - it's just never really been an issue for me at all. Unless they do it wrong. Then it sucks.

Christ *.* You are one busy bee.

And just... reading the platelet experience made me nauseous. I have so much admiration for you right now, and I really hope you feel better soon bb

Aw, thanks. I dunno - I guess stuff like that just sort of makes sense for me to do, since I'm built for it, and what I can give is fairly useful. Plus, my body just replaces it later - or, in the case of my being an organ donor, I'm not exactly using it anymore.

I'm feeling okay now. Still a little headachey, but only if I move my head too fast.

I want to give blood, but I had blood drawn for a blood test and almost fainted(I was fine while they were drawing it, but afterward the room started spinning)... D: I figure I'll try again sometime in the future(and lying down, not sitting up), because it does help people and my mom gives, so...

Aw. ;.; I shall spare a moment of silence for the fics that may have been. <3

.......

Saying that, I've recently backed-up all my fics-in-progess on Windows Live. Recently, in the last month. You just need a Windows Live ID and you can upload up to 5MB or 5GB, I forget which... but it's plenty for a bunch of Word documents(for me, I don't know how Macs work. x.x;;;).

Perhaps that information came a little too late, but maybe it would possibly help in the future... ? :3

Good luck with all your business(...that's busy-ness xD Oops~), and if it makes you feel better we got two feet of snow, here~? ^^;; Ehe. Easier to get around for you, I'm sure~ <3

Oof, two feet of snow - I don't even know what I'd do. Call it quits and stay inside, I bet.

Yeah, the funny thing is I always intermittently think to myself that I need to start backing up my files - maybe this will push me to actually do it. Like I said, though: nothing of really tremendous importance was lost, so it definitely was a situation that could have been much worse than it was.

It's funny - I'm finding out that a lot of people on my friends' list can't donate blood for one reason or another. Just a little interesting tidbit of information.

quick fix for migraines, if that's what the head aches are, is a little bit of caffeine. Opens the blood vessels. They are miserable I know!

So glad you're a donor! I'm also O but can't done much cause I'm so short lol.

And good lord, busy much??? I got tired just reading what you have to do!

Yeah - my sister pointed me at Excedrin Migraine (migraines run in the family), which has caffeine in it, and sometimes that does help.

I'm one of those people the Red Cross sort of harasses now - I'm a nearly universal blood type, I'm tall enough and weigh enough to donate as often as you're pretty much allowed to. In fact, the only time I didn't donate given the opportunity was when I had to be deferred for a year after my tattoo.

Only if you get them in states that aren't federally regulated? Or something like that. It's sort of a vague rule.

I saw someone recommend caffeine and I agree. I actually get headaches fairly often since moving to San Diego (fail, I know) and really, caffeine is only a quick fix but not permanent since you can get the addiction to caffeine and wind yourself with a withdrawal headache which is just plain sucks.

Anyway, ice packs help sometimes, good ol' pain meds with no caffeine can help too. A thing called Migraleif, which is this roll on oil of lavender and pepperminy, can help. Taking more protein and magnesium can help. Hm, an herbal substance called Feverfew (slow acting) supposedly helps too but it takes a couple months to be fully effective and you are suppose to take it regularly.

Can you tell I research too much because mine are just plain ridiculous. I'll down Ibuprofen the whole day and it doesn't help sometimes

I just... don't recommend automatically getting the prescription since that makes your tolerance for the pain meds higher and therefore could render then useless on just even normal stuff like cramps or aches and stuff.

I've tried ice packs, and normal pain meds - neither really do much for me, or at least, they haven't really in the past. Protein and magnesium I could try, as well as the herbal stuff - though I'm not really sure where I'd get it out here in this ridiculously small college town.
