I'm in camp 3. I'm pretty pessimistic about it, I don't expect it to ever happen but that's what I'd like to see happen.

I'm in somewhere in between 2 and 4.
If technology saves us it will probably she in some Orwellian way and will involve as giant bubble.
The latter will probably be some political asshole shooting off their selection of weapons of mass destruction.
Either way we're doomed.
