COLDPLAY

OK, Coldplay was absolutely AWESOME.

Youth Group came on first, and they were pretty good, because I'd never heard anything except Forever Young. And they kicked off the soccer jokes - "This song is called Skeleton Jar, and as a lament we dedicate it to Lucas Neil".
Coldplay themselves took forever to come onstage - about 10 minutes before they came on the lights were turned down and everyone started screaming, 5 minutes later they turned the lights off and everyone started screaming some more, then... they came on. It was amazing. Chris Martin has so much energy it wasn't funny, he was jumping and running around everywhere. He ran up to the back where we were, and sang for a bit. I had two options for tickets when I was buying them, and realised that if I had taken the other ones he would have been standing right in front of us, but cest la vie. :p But yeah, it was amazing. They had this massive screen thing on the wall behind the stage which was playing video as well as video of them singing on stage - they must have had cameras scattered around the stage - and they used it really well. They sang from all three albums, and I didn't actually realise that Don't Panic was their song - I knew they sang something called Don't Panic but I didn't realise it was that song. But yeah, I was so excited, I was singing along to everything, including the instrumental bits - when Clocks came on I was fully going do do do do do do do do do do do along with the piano bit.
They were making soccer jokes too, it was quite funny - Chris Martin came up and declared "What can we say? We never fucking liked spaghetti anyway" and then went on to substitute "God put a smile upon your face" with "It shouldn't have been a penalty in the first place" :D fun times.
They went off after about and hour, which had everyone a bit surprised because he was just like "Thanks, have a good night", and so someone started up the soccer chant - "Ole, ole ole ole, Coldplay, Coldplay..." and so they came back on with yellow t-shirts on, which had everyone grinning. They finished off with Swallowed in the Sea and In My Place, then Fix You, which had everyone hysterical. And yeah, that was it. Liz and I were squeeing all the way through the city afterwards. So, it was ABSOLUTELY AWESOME and if they come back again I'm definitely going. I'd never actually been to a concert before (aside from Wave Aid and Big Day Out, which are a bit different), and it was just crazy/cool when he turned the microphone towards the crowd and everyone was singing along to it. But everyone was singing along to everything anyway :D What I find funny, though, is that it was called the Twisted Logic tour but they didn't actually sing Twisted Logic. Strange.

Here's some audio from last night - you'll have to excuse my singing, I can actually sing but I wasn't really paying attention to what was coming out of my mouth last night, too excited :p Oh and some of them are a bit cut off. I tended to switch to video halfway through. I'd post the video but it's really big, if anyone can be bothered downloading 16 mb for half of Fix You, tell me and I'll post it. Or if anyone knows how to extract the audio track out of a MOV file that'd be even better.
Fix You(First Half)
(end of) Swallowed in the Sea & In My Place
The Scientist
Yellow
Forever Young (Youth Group)
ETA: Managed to extract the audio:
Fix You (Second Half)
Swallowed in the Sea (First Half)

Okies, enjoy,

PS Oh and Mel, no I didn't cry but I came very close in Swallowed in the Sea :p
