OK, so I just watched Gattaca again for the first time in a while, and I'd forgotten how much I loved the movie. It's such a beautiful, quite little film but it's one of the few that can (almost) move me to tears. I love my big blockbusters and the massive sci-fi/fantasy movies, but there is something to be said about completely character driven ( Read more... )

I heard a review of POTC2 this morning and main factors were that it was
2 1/2 hours
and
the ending didn't feel resolved at all, despite the fact that we know there will be #3 down the road.
I dunno...I'm going to see it anyway.
Though I didn't know it was THAT LONG.

Yeah, it does indeed go for 2 and 1/2 hours, and the ending isn't really and ending. It's like they made a movie and literally cut the thing in half. But go see it anyway :D

I havent seen Gattaca in ages - you are so right, awesome movie.

The reviews I've heard for PotC2 have been really mixed - from 4.5/5 down to 1/5. I am hoping to see it today actually. I really hope it will be good - it looks like it will be. I think you just have to let go and enjoy it for what it is. *shrugs* But what do I know? :O)

Yeah, Gattaca was one of the first DVDs we bought, I love it. And did you hear the 4.5 review for PotC from Margaret from At the Movies? Coz lol that's where I saw a 4.5. But you do indeed have to enjoy it for what it is, and it's good - it's really quite funny even if some parts feel a bit irrelavant (sp?).

I just came back from it. It was really good - though not as funny as the first movie I thought. It took a while to get going but once it did it rocked. And OMG the end!!

Yeah, it is quite good, but I agree it wasn't as funny as the first one. But OMG I know!!! (I'll just talk in white in case someone accidentally reads it)
I knew Geoffery Rush was in it, but I came in a bit late so I figured I might missed him in a flashback or something at the start. But how is he alive?! He was shot in the last one! Oh well, they have some serious explaining to do.
