The ceiling fan was making noises like it's going to explode.
I told it that it was just getting it's hopes up, since it is a ceiling fan, and is therefore (I hope) non-combustible.
It has since switched over to really obnoxious whining.
I think not melting into a puddle of cytoplasmic goo in the heat is worth the noise.
