PR S13 Ep 2

Aug 03, 2014 19:30

So it's been a couple of days and I have had time to think about this, and I'm afraid I still don't agree with the judges. As mmmorpheusq said in the other thread, they are clearly enjoying the hooch pre-judging, because seriously, WTF.

Any dress in the unconventional challenge that's 80% the muslin that the material is meant to adhere to should be automatic bottom.

And who can't tie a bunch of strings together and weight them down with washers? So stupid . . .

I really liked the cd dress, and I thought the ticket one was fun.

80% the muslin

Do you mean Angela's look?

I did like the ticket one, but it was too literal to be really good. And the CD one would have stood out better in another collection with more diversity. Repeating that shape only emphasized how simple it is.

No, Amanda's. The muslin should only be there to help it keep its shape - if the muslin needs to be there to cover the model so they're not naked, then it seems like it should be in the bottom.

I read somewhere that Amanda's undergarment was some sort of plastic thing, not muslin.

I cannot begin to understand the reasoning of the judges in making their decisions. Amanda's collection of strings over a muslin sheath is winner? There is just no logic to this, at all. They are supposed to transform crap into realistic (or so I thought) garments.

I erased the dvr so I don't remember what else I thought about the episode, but I liked the blue-ticket dress and the straw dress. And though the green outfits were striking, the green "fabric" was really just duct tape over muslin - and the idea used to be NOT to use fabric-like materials. So isn't duct tape cheating?

Felt slightly bad for the girl who left, only because obviously you don't DARE question the diva judges or question their choices. Show respect, yeah, but just bend over?

Tim was okay, though I thought he was too gentle with the whiny girl. If she thinks these designers are "mean," she ain't seem nothin' yet.

I don't think Amanda's look was over muslin - I think it was plastic or something? It still was a big meh, IMO, I def agree with you.

I agree with you and the judges - I too like the green, but I agree with you more, that's not enough. And it really was duct tape?

I know, I don't get how so many of the contestants can't seem to strike the balance between standing up for their looks and being respectful. Speaking of which, I lol'd when Hernan was asked what he thought of the other designs in comparison to his own, and then Nina slammed him for "why should we explain our decisions to them?" and he says, "YOU ASKED ME." I practically cheered.

Okaay, It's only ep 2 but as I remember from previous seasons at that point in the game any seasoned PR viewer can already identify certain favs but it's not the case this time around...

It usually takes me a good four episodes to really figure out who everyone is. Right now I only know who annoys me, but I'm totally a glass-half-empty person, so it's not surprising. I'm worried there's noone grabbing my attention, tho. Samantha maybe.

As for this season 'unconventional'- it was one big hot mess if you ask meI usually like the unconventional challenge, but I wish they'd had a few standard challenges to settle the designers in before springing the hard stuff on them - and teams on top of that, ugh! Uh, yeah, nothing will ever top unicorn!boy for sheer WTFery. I did like Sean's design, but thought a lot more was made of it - I guess because everything else was so mediocre ( ... )

Wow, that is a truckload of ugly!

Seriously, would anyone wear any of that anywhere?

I know PR is about the crazy, but they used to have actual
clothing, too -- sometimes!

I'd wear the CD dress. I think someone might go for Samantha's (not me, but someone) - but that's it.

clothing, too -- sometimes!

The problem is when they start emphasizing "actual clothing" the designers are rewarded for off-the-wrack department store boring crap. It's hard to win with this show these days.

Wow, I find it much more difficult commenting from seeing those caps alone than if I had watched the episode, but I'll try anyway.

I don 't get a challenge like that. What has sticking tickets or tape together got to do with designing clothes? Who would wear any of that except someone who is desperate for attention? Though, having said that, when I don't look too closely and forget about the probably uncomfortable material I vaguely like the look of some, and yes, I agree with you, I like the colour of, what's the name, Mitchel's? (I can't write and look at the photos at the same time using the LJ app.)

But honestly, most of them, if not all, are, when you forget about the materials, conventional in their style. Boring. I guess the contestants needed all their time and energy to figure out in what way to stick all that stuff on. Possibly a nice game.

I don't remember all the names. I do remember that I thought the woman who won last time seemed arrogant and rather infantile to me. And I do remember thinking that the one ousted now was ( ... )
