So this is becoming discouraging.
So Dita Von Tease or whatever comes in and wants a non-traditional wedding gown (one of the designers says she’d never forget Dita’s purple VW unconventional wedding dress. Uh huh.
The pairs are:
Fade & Emily
Alexander & Samantha
Kini & Sean
Sandhya & Char
And finally, Amanda & Korina. How contrived is this? I’m not only annoyed, I find this really amateurish and stupid. The producers aren’t even trying to be coy about what this show is really about now. So in the very beginning of tonight’s show, we see Korina telling Amanda “I think you’re fake.” Only she didn’t say it, exactly, we only see Amanda reacting to this. And it looks like they’re both trying not to laugh at how stupid this is. And then the ridiculous little online counter thing that always crowds the screen comes on and asks, “Do you think Korina is causing unnecessary drama?” And 97% of the idiots say yes because they’re morons for getting sucked into a narrative the producers want. Notice how the question directs a conclusion, no matter how you answer it? Do you find it awful that that man beats his wife? Nobody with a single brain cell is fooled about the way in which that question directs a pre-existing conclusion. So does anyone think Amanda and Korina being paired together after that bullshit is a “coincidence”?
So they’re put in pairs to make an unconventional wedding dress and an entire trousseau in 30 minutes with only what they can collect from a garbage heap. Also, they have to fight to the death for the scraps.
Okay, no, but I bet the producers would do it if they could. Remember when this show used to produce gorgeous runway fashion?
Anyway, they go to Mood. Everyone’s commenting on how much Korina sucks and what a bad attitude she has. At least we know why they kept her last week - they needed her for the drama. Oh, well, thank goodness that didn’t affect the judging *snert*
So they get back to the workroom. Char and Sandhya are trying to work a bright yellow leather. I imagine that would be unforgiving. Wait! Outfits entirely in bright yellow? Ooookay…
Amanda and Korina are not getting along - shocker!!
And since when has PR become All About Amanda? The conversation she has with Fade is all about how Korina is an evil troll or something and Fade telling Amanda ‘yes! You’re right!’ …this is like the worst Mary Sue fic ever.
Tim check-in. Samantha and Alexander: Oxblood lace, with ivory. But the additional appliqué, snap it off! They shouldn’t look too much alike. Good lord that’s an ugly red.
S&S: Tim’s worried about Char’s top. It has to be superbly executed. This outfit is so on the edge, it’s going to be down to taste, and that’s a hard color.
Emily & Fade: Veil like a hood, all black, drama to cut out the plain - making a lace-based textile…
And I have become distracted by my cats fighting which is kind of metaphor.
Anyway, we somehow get to the runway.
Heidi comes out and wears something short, tight, lacy and sparkly. Of course she does.
Dita Von Teese is a judge. And Chiara Farangi, who?
Kini: dress, ruffles, knee length, sweet. 2nd look Sean, floating top and high waisted pans, very nice. Good look. What I expect from Kini but not very exciting. I like the cape shirt thing.
Alexander: I really hate that red. Petals and then lace in red. The lace looks cheap. The short dress is tacky, short skirt. Heidi should just about love it.
Korina: Shiny white, tight pants, unimaginative. Amanda’s party dress is like the most boring tile floor in a corporate foyer with its triangular cutouts. Okay. Kind of boring.
Emily: Gothic non-conventional dress. Lace mantilla, long skirt with cutouts. Fade: short, lace, nice, not his best, but I like that a lot. Once again, I’m thinking Fade should win. This is my pick for the win. I like Emily’s drama with the hood. I love hoods. So far this look is the most interesting to me.
Sandhya: UGH UGH. YELLOW. Not finished. She’s concerned. Yeah, she should be. Char’s matching dress is also unrelieved, uniform yellow. Cheap, looks ratty, all tatty and unfinished, ugh. Char will probably go home for this.
Amanda and Korina are safe. Yep, boring. They’re happy. Here’s what Korina’s probably thinking: You bet your ass I’m safe, Producers, you promised me we’d get a pass for going along with that ridiculous storyline!!
E&F: Zac thinks it’s a parody of Elvira. Heidi likes both looks a lot. It’s very Goth, but the draping and work is good. They like how Fade created his own pattern. Nina thinks the sleeves are too much. Oh, well, I guess I’m wrong then. No real surprise. Too costumey but well done for what it was. I like the drama! It’s “conventional” - Dear judges: this is what you get for handing out a wedding dress challenge and not giving the contestants any time. We’ve been complaining about this for years.
So no surprises, Kini and Sean favored pair: Tailored on top and feminine on bottom for ceremony and the party the opposite. Dita would wear the outfit. Sean says Kini should win. Kini agrees! And he’s right. Since he basically sewed and designed everything.
Char and Sandhya: Nina looks like it’s a lemon and she’s sucking it. Heidi finds it an epic fail. Zac: Big bird and Tweetie bird. Ouch. Bad color, bad design - lack of design. It’s crazy.
Really, there’s no reason the judges shouldn’t have seen all these problems with Sandhya’s work in the very first design for which they gave her the win, which was why all the other designers were so confused. But that’s show business!
Alexander and Samantha: Juliet goes vamp (for the red?). Nina thinks they suffered the same as the yellow thing, only with embellishment - overwhelming. The lace is beautiful, but not flattering (the lacy is ugly, Zac). Old, old fashioned, 80s. Heidi thinks the reception dress is not as bad. I CALLED THAT. The reception dress is worse, Heidi.
Sean wins, they liked the day look. Uh… did the judges know Kini made everything BUT the pants?
Char is out. Too bad.
