Project Runway - finale previews

Oct 18, 2014 06:52

So the designers are sent to Rome to get inspired and their collections are to be based on Rome somehow? Okay, that’s a first. Do they need inspiration for a final runway?

I actually don't know what/how to feel about all this, tbh ( ... )

well, yeah, in the past Tim's home visits were the designers' chances to correct whatever they were doing. But they barely had time for it, and now the preview, instead of eliminating a designer, is all about "fixing" things and they toss it all into one 90-minute episode? Ridic.

I have to totally disagree on Kini's looks being better than Char's - Kini's looks were ugly while Char's were just okay and kind of unrelated. I don't even think it was the "old lady" problem that was the worst aspect - they were just flat-out horrible. Who'd wear them? Blech.

Kini can sew, but he can't design. The show is albeit allegedly at this point, to find the next great designer. I've had issue with Kini racing through challenges all season because the clothes were usually just "meh". I have no idea why he's trying to make fetch happen with a mostly denim collection, but nothing he showed reads high end. It's all bulky and dated.

Crap on a cracker. Bo-ring! I like home visits but these were missing something. Even Amanda's orange cat was unimpressed with Tim. I do agree that the “preview” was just a chance to improve the collections, so that PR wouldn’t be so embarrassed at Fashion Week. The Rome trip was ONLY to justify using Best Western as an advertiser, though I enjoyed seeing the sights. I love Rome, but sure didn’t see any Italian inspiration in any of the designs. Char bought some gorgeous fabric there, but then she used it to make shorts ( ... )

I'm not really a trendy person - I prefer classic looks. Char hasn't done anything for me all season, and this didn't change my mind. The finge thing is just meh for me, although I find the orange color exciting, so right now I'm going to root for Sean given that the orange thing is the only thing I responded to.

As for Kini - INORITE?! Those shoulders were awful, and the dusty cobweb was just all kinds of No. You're totally right about that white top - it was really pretty and with the right bottom it would have been great.

ugly fashion, but fashionhee! I actually didn't think it was really ugly - it's kinda slouchy tho. The middle look was just wrong with a slit at the top, a slit at the bottom, and nothing going on in between. I do like the print, just not that much of it ( ... )

I've felt like Kini was over praised most of the season. His collection reflects what happens when a designer is overpraised instead of given constructive criticism. He thinks his stuff is so perfect all he has to do is show up. He completely ignored the brief to use Italy as an inspiration because in his mind he knew what he planned to make for his collection and was certain the judges would love it.

This is an excellent observation.

I watched this episode while chopping up a large amount of celery. That task was more interesting than the show...

I haven't expressed too many opinions this season - hey, you have to have opinions to express first - but Kini's coat is awful. When a size 0 model looks thick and bulky in a garment, what's a big ol' size 8 going to look like? Yeah, a tank.

I thought Sean's white garment was another mistake. It looked like a nightie...a really nice nightie, true. His two fringed garments were my favorites. FanSee

Yep, some of these critiques I have definitely struggled to say something.

big ol' size 8

*facepalm* See, now, that's my enitre problem with the fashion industry. When 0 is considered too big. *sigh*

Yep, the orange fringe was the best of the bunch. That's sad.

Where is the Italy inspiration? Other than Char's fabric they all made collections based on piece they did during the season. Amanda is still doing her 70's inspired stuff and most pieces look like a riff off that maxi dress from the last challenge. Sean went back to his fringe. Kini went back even farther to the denim he auditioned with. He ignored the Italy inspiration completely ( ... )

I really don't know why they sent them to Italy in the first place. That was really some high end product placement!

I will take your bet on Amanda because honestly I have no idea. After all he went through in this show and all the judges' comments, why in god's name would Kini go back to denim? Except for that white top it was all perfectly hideous. And, my big question: Why did Tim let him get away with it?

I actually don't hate Amanda's general 70s thing - I've always liked bohemian looks.

Truth be told, I don't care who wins. I thought Sandhya had the best collection but hers was a decoy. Only Amanda and Char's collections look youthful and on trend.

I'm with you. I'm probably going to go check out the final runways before Thursday's shows because at this point it doesn't really matter.

I liked Sean's orange skirt - but only because I love the color. And yep, I did like Amanda's blue dress too.

But all I could think when I saw the previews was, Is that IT?
