I loved Dmitry's but thought for sure he'd be in the Bottom 3 and the judges would yap at him for it not being avant garde (because it wasn't. At all.) Don't mind him using that technique, though.. he does it beautifully and it was his first time using it during All Stars.
I liked Sonjia's judy jetson thing, but again it didn't seem particularly avant garde.
Not sure who I would have picked for the loss. Nothing was particularly well done. To me, Michelle's honestly looked almost like a parody of avant garde. It also looked like it took about ten minutes to make -- wrap the fabric around, tuck here and here, aaaaand DONE.
I love Dmitry too and all his work but I totally agree, that judging the challenge was important, and this just wasn't it.
It was a tough one. I chose Michelle's because I liked the attitude and the color combos, and I think the shape was interesting and different. Maybe quick - but some really great clothes have been whipped up real fast on this show. Besides, I think it takes some structuring to shape that foofy stuff at the top and hold it in place.
But I really did disagree with the judges who were all, Best runway ever!! Because, no.
Good for Dmitri for speaking up to that twit who called him arrogant. He knows he should have won a runway by now; in my opinion, his look is usually among the top every time. I don't know from avant garde, but I liked this dress.
Sonija could have had second place this week, again IMO. I like graphic designs so liked Jays striped lion fish. Michelle's was "out there," so.I guess avant garde, but shapeless. Good color combo though. Helens ruffled shark was ridiculous. Justin messed up this week and deserved to go, if only for all those loose threads. I almost liked Fabios wide leg pants.
Cracked up when Isaac said this was the best runway because of the avant garde theme. DUMMY -- it was best because they had TWO DAYS. Duh.

I totally agree about Dmitry - you know when there's a choice, I usually think he should win. But this wasn't his runway for the challenge. Great outfit for a different day. I totally agree - I was thinking as I watched him do promo work for the Mary Kay makeup last night during the model primping, that Dmitry is not naturally perky. For god's sake, he's slavic, we're just deeply contemplative on a good day and gloomy and pessimistic on a bad one. I think Dmitry does really well at achieving what the show wants from him. If anyone should be dunned for an attitude, it should be Helen, who has something bad to say about everyone.
I liked Sonjia's too - my ideal final is Sonjia vs. Dmitry, so we're in total agreement.
I could have liked Fabio's, but I think he had had this idea in his head for avant garde even before they were given the particulars of the challenge, and he did nothing to shape it (ha!) to the sealife theme. What did reverse wear have to do with it?

Unbelievable!! I am watching the new PRAS episode and just cannot believe it. The designers must create two different looks, design them -- shop for fabric -- and sew......all in ONE DAY...and then, they must waste a couple hours at the NASDAQ in the middle of that one day. Honestly, WTF?
I KNOW! The results are impressive. Although when I post results, I'm going to say this: I have Sonjia's grey skirt. Kenneth Cole made it a year or two ago. I love it, but bitch stole that look.
