OMG, I love this so much. So much. You've done a brilliant job with his voice - snarky, world-weary, gutsy, back to the wall. I loved how he thought tactically at every step along the way - how far Mycroft stood from him, how many snipers there might be, etc. Professional and cool in emergency, well trained and composed. His mental descriptions of Mycroft (and his umbrella) are perfect (and at times hilarious).

And I really love the ending with the back-and-forth about the coffee. This is just how Mycroft would do it (See? I know how you take your coffee. I know where you live. I can let myself into your flat, in fact.), and it's just how Lestrade would react. Stubborn, wonderful man. Men, really.

I'm so thrilled and honored you'd be inspired to write something -- especially something this terrific -- based on a fic of mine. Thank you for linking to it. I'm going to edit my posts now to link from my story back to yours.

Brava! :D

Awww, you're a sweetheart, thank you. I was SO worried about this thing - then I saw your reply and just smiled. ^_^ Glad it came across the way I was hoping, and that you liked it, since I jumped off your idea and all.

Thank you also for the very kindly worded rec you linked back on. I'll admit, I blushed. Will have to try to live up to it, now... ;)

Plotbunnies for the win, then!

I really like Lestrade's attitude throughout - all part of the day's work, albeit on a *bad* day, and he's mostly annoyed that he won't live this down any time soon. :)

All it lacked for the classic thriller feel were the hanging plastic tarps

Nice one - especially when he then spots that yes, the scene is even closer to the cliché than he at first thought. Sounds like at least one of Mycroft's minions, if not the man himself, is up on pop culture.

I second morganstuart - very nice move that Lestrade is concerned with the practical details; he is observant, if in a different mode than Sherlock, and is smart enough to extrapolate what he can't actually see physical evidence for (that Mycroft's behaviour indicates a certain minimum number of snipers and their skill level, that Mycroft's probably armed, and so on).

experience told him that if the 'boss' didn’t like answers in these sort of meetings, Lestrade quickly became a witness to be disposed of. Great. Just... bleeding great.I like the whole Mycroft-is- ( ... )

Thank you so much - this is such an awesome comment and made me feel really great about posting this (which I'll admit, I was kind of anxious about). I'm glad it came across so well for you, and you picked up on the subtle coffee thing! Yay! That makes me ridiculously happy (because it's exactly where I was going with it. ;) I'm just going to bask in the glow of this for a few minutes ( ... )

I love it! Totally wonderful first fic for the fandom! I love nearly ANYTHING with Mycroft, and you've done a great job with him and Lestrade here.

Ugh I need to get off my ass and write something. D: I've been bulldozing through other people's work but haven't contributed. /bangs head on wall

Awwww! *blushes* You're a sweetheart and a half. Thank you so much - I'm really glad you liked it. That means rather a lot to me. ;)

And yes, yes you SHOULD write something. I've been missing fic from you, this needs to be rectified. ^_^ (I'm just going to go back to bulldozing through other peoples work myself, now... *laughs* If I hadn't gotten bitten in the butt by a rabid plot bunny, I'd be in the same situation ;)
