Hi, my name is Laura and I used to be involved in fandom till every show but Friday Night Lights pissed me off and my life got too busy to be able to keep up. Also, I spent most of the summer reading in my rare spare time, just being very non fanish.  The thing with lj, you miss a few weeks then it seems like an avalanche to catch up, then it ( Read more... )

Welcome back, Laura!

I just got into FNL. I haven't seen any of the s2 episodes yet, but I'm really loving the 1st season. :)

LOL, apparently I'm more hardy than that, or more of a glutton for punishment.

S&S was, along with NA the only Jane I didn't reread this summer. I don't really like NA, but this reminds me I did mean to read S&S, I just got distracted by needed to reread all of Harry Potter before the release of Deathly Hallows.

laura,

Welcome back, I've really missed you around these parts,so glad you posted again. I totally agree with everyone of your points on FNL so far this season. I hate what they did to Tyra and Landry and reading what the producers of the show have to say for themselves its sounds alot like deja vu all over again. Where they ask the fans to just and see where the story is heading and wants us to trust them to make it right, and I'm sorry but I really don't trust writers/producers that wants us to trust them anymore. I'm still watching because Landry and Tyra are just a part of the show but they better be careful that they don't alienate the fans more than they have already done.

Anyway its great to see you around again.Hope you post once in a while to catch up.

Rose

Awww, thanks, Rose. I'm not unhappy with the show in general, just that storyline. I even like the Taylors apart one, because it feels like a real decision that a family would make, being full of hubris, thinking they're invincible, which they're not. I'm really hoping that they back burner the Tyra/Landry thing here soon, or more so. Since we really do need to see the other characters more, the three boys in particular. They & their families are a big part of the show.

Hey! Welcome back Laura.

I pretty much agree with your whole post, mainly every other fandom pissing you off except Friday Night Lights. And the Matt/Julie breakup doesn't bother me at all because I've never really shipped them, plus I think Matt has spent a little too much time being spineless so maybe this will give him a little kick in the ass.

And really, I'll be totally honest, I like Tyra and Landry together, and while I don't buy all the talk from the writers about how they had to do the murder in order to bring them together, I'm going to ride this storyline out for the time being. I really hope it's resolved in a 'Friday Night Lights' kind of way.

I'm way too excited with the start of this season, I need to stop typing now.

I don't see Matt as spineless, though he's being so currently. He's just bumbling. geeky Matt who is more than a little dazzled that the girl he had a complete & total crush on ended up liking him back. That he's QB-1 remains to him a fluke, so he's never carried himself as the star that realizes he's desirable.

I do adore him. I just don't love & adore them. Though I did like them in S1.

And really, I'll be totally honest, I like Tyra and Landry together, and while I don't buy all the talk from the writers about how they had to do the murder in order to bring them togetherI read nothing about the show in general, so I'm clueless. However, I have no problem with them together, my issue is the dumping of the body. They shared a traumatic event which brought them closer, they became very good friends. Had Landry balled up and told her how he felt about her I think they might have gotten together, or tried ( ... )

My issue is the dumping/cover up and THAT being what brings them together, nothing else

I completely agree, I could buy everything up until that moment when they dumped the body. It's like, just call the cops! Please!

I really need to see more of Jason and Smash, aside from the Tyra/Landry SL I think a little too much time is being spent on the Matt/Julie relationship and other characters are getting less screentime.

I thought my eyes were betraying me. ;)

Glad to see you are still alive and well, Laura.

I can't comment on FNL since I don't watch it but I'm happy to hear that it was "only" the shows which pissed you off.

I hope to see you around from time to time - just decide to not try to catch up because as you mentioned, it's never going to work. That's at least what I try to do when I haven't been around a while (which happens regularly as well) although I don't always succeed. Just my 2 cent.

Thanks, Claudia. I was just fatigued by the entire idea of fandom & tv by the end of the last tv season. I needed a break to hopefully remember why I got involved in the first place, and what I loved about both tv & fandom in general.

I should have emailed you back, I forgot. For that I'm very sorry. *hugs*

I ditto the eyes deceiving me part! LOL It's good to see you posting and to know that you're okay. I totally get the "fandom" thing. When it becomes the most draining part of your life it's time to step away from the keyboard.
Hugs and don't be a stranger!
