Yesterday I hung out with my good friend from Hopkins, Maura, and we went to see the New York Philharmonic perform their free concert in Central Park. They were supposed to perform last week, as well, but the performance was rained out. But yesterday was a beautiful (if blistering) day, and it seemed like all would go well for the performance ( Read more... )

Don't forget Anthony! :)

There certainly are a lot of you up there! Here in NC we've only got me, Dan, Victoria, and soon Eric Horvath and Megan Mentrek. Angie is up there, too! Do you ever see her? She's coming down to visit us in a few weeks, and I am SO excited. Did you know Jill Rafson or Jacob Gilbert? I always try to see them when we're in town. Next time we're up there we should get together, if you think Chris would be interested.

That's right! Anthony's out in Oyster Bay - such a nice area! It sounds like you've got a nice group down there in NC. I don't ever see Angie; which hospital is she at? tell her I said hello! I do vaguely know Jill Rafson; I think Chris knows her better. It would be fun to see you again, so definitely let me know when you'll be back!

every time I think of Anthony and his locale I think of Ella Fitzgerald singing Cole Porter:

birds do it, bees do it
even educated fleas do it
let's do it
let's fall in love ...
romantic sponges, they say, do it
oysters down in Oyster Bay do it
let's do it
let's fall in love

Oh, and I also think of The Great Gatsby. And the classic Sabrina (because who really wants to think of the stupid remake? Not me).

I should totally know exactly where Angie is but I forget. Fe would know.

I can't believe Steve and Katherine are actually married. It sort of freaks me out. But then, so do a lot of things.

I never saw the stupid remake, but I don't think I want to! It's hard to beat Audrey and Bogey. Long Island's got some really wonderful and beautiful places on it; Oyster Bay is definitely one of them!

I can't believe they're married either! Seems so unreal.

It sounds fun!

There's something quite pleasing to me about coming in from somewhere, being all wet, and drying off and having hot tea. The whole getting wet part first though can be annoying however!

You're right! It's such a nice, warm, cozy feeling when you're back in dry clothes with a cup of tea. I had a hard time staying awake when we made it back home! :)

I really don't mind being outside in the rain - it reminds me of Breakfast at Tiffany's or something. :) I just don't like thunder and lightning - I know only 67 people in the US die from lightning strikes per year, but I could be one of them, and it doesn't like a pleasant way to go!

You got to see the NY Philharmonic for free? Wow, that's really really cool. What with the Shakespeare performance, it seems that there are, contrary to what I've been told, cultural advantages to living in NYC. I feel for you when it comes to the people who will not stop talking during a live event, whether its theater or music or whatever. Just plain rude ( ... )
