Lost Children

I was walking through Barnes and Noble about a week ago, when a little boy attached himself to me. He was about seven years old, and was so engrossed in his hand held game system that I don't think he had looked up from the time he had come in with his mom and grandmother.

About the same amount as someone who allows their kids to read and walk at the same time. My mom wouldn't let me do it for that exact reason (although I didn't realize it until I was older and nearly walked in front of a car, heh... yay "indestructible" teenage years).

A few years back I was seeing a majority of people who just didn't seem to care about their children and seemed to expect them to immediately know how to behave. Nowadays I'm seeing a rather extreme mix - kids all but being raised urban-feral, and kids being raised with an alertness that just didn't exist in my childhood's day and age.
