SongFic: When she loved me

Jul 12, 2011 19:30

When somebody loved me, everything was beautiful

You should not be here. Watching her from a distance.

With this man at her side. He claims with a simple kiss what was yours not long ago.

And now is no more.

Every hour we spent together, lives within my heart

You remember when it began. What you had with her.

You never thought you would feel that way. So did she, you’re sure.

She is so beautiful. It slightly kills you seeing her like that, on this day. So happy, her smile even brighter than the sun.

And when she was sad, I was there to dry her tears

And when she was happy, so was I…

She was everything to you. Soon you knew all her secrets, as she knew yours. Both promised never telling anyone.

And you shared everything. She came home from work, mostly later than you, talked about her work and you listened about her day.

You held her in your arms, the warm body pressed into yours’ and listened to that soft warm voice. When she laughed, you laughed with her.

And when she cried, you encouraged her to let these tears fall, not to hold back and you hoped she felt safe in your arms, as you did, when you needed her.

When she loved me.

You loved her, so much it terrified you most of the times.

Fearing that this love was not real. But you tried to push these fears away, although you knew they would always be there.

Through the summer and the fall, we had each other, that was all
Just she and I together, like it was meant to be

Days, weeks, years… Time ran so fast and you ignored it.

You had her, she had you. It was the only thing that mattered.

You did not care about what ever the world thought about you, what the press wrote, what your friends thought, your family…. This was about you two mainly and thankfully the children were soon okay with it. And nothing else mattered.

And when she was lonely, I was there to comfort her
And I knew that she loved me.

You’ve tried your best to keep her happy, to protect her, but you could not avoid some bad words and heavy arguments.

There was always a solution for everything, you were sure.

You kissed her deeply, whispering that everything was going to be alright.

And you wanted to believe it.

So the years went by, I stayed the same
And she began to drift away, I was left alone

It did not last. You must have been a fool to think otherwise.

She and you are so different, like the opposite of a golden medal.

Light and darkness, who can’t be nor with, neither without the other.

But it had to come to an end

And when they day was there, there were no bad words, no plates smashing, no tears and wild accusations.

You have just grown apart, ignoring all the small changes of your behaviour to each other.

She said she wanted to leave and you let her go without any resistance. So simple…

Still I waited for the day, when she’d say "I will always love you."

You wonder what it meant, “always”.

You loved to say that phrase over and over again, when you lay together in a tight embrace, waiting for sleep to claim your exhausted and sated bodies.

When you’re true to yourself, did you really think it would always be like this? With her? Forever?

You don’t know and now you’ll never…

Lonely and forgotten, never thought she’d look my way,

You have met her just a few weeks ago, on a benefit. You never thought she’d be there, but she was. With him at her side, the first time.

You said “hello” to each other, she introduced you to him. He was nice, well mannered, the perfect man her age, the perfect fit for her.

She smiled at me and held me, just like she used to do,
Like she loved me, when she loved me

It was simple to talk to her again. You did not think it would be, like you were used to it. Like nothing has ever happen between you, although it almost felt like it.

And that’s why it hurt you all evening, teasing you, wanting to cry. But no tears were falling, not even when you were alone at home again.

She was still in your thoughts and dreams; she always would be a part of them, but not haunting you anymore. It was over.

When somebody loved me, everything was beautiful,
Every hour we spent together, lives within my heart

Now you are here watching her. She’s happy, so happy with him.

You are not here accidentally. Of course you have read about this day in the newspapers.

You have to see her again, just one last moment.

She does not know you are here and you don’t want to let her know.

There is a foolish little hope that her eyes might wander and search for you. But they don’t. They stayed on his face. She leaned over and kisses him again, softly and tenderly. She really loves him.

You see enough, carefully stand up and quietly make your way out of the scenery.

You can’t help it, you wish them luck, both of them, that he may never be so stupid to let her walk away like you did and that they don’t make the same mistakes.

You wish them all the best.

She deserves it.

When you step outside the chapel the weather is warm and sunny. What a perfect day for a wedding. It’s just not yours.

When she loved me.

As you descend the stairs, this thought comes up to your mind.

Yes, she has loved you. No one could convince you otherwise. And you loved her.

It's just a tiny solace, but it's better than nothing.

The memory of this love, all the moments, the touches, the kisses, the tenderly spoken words, all this will always belong to you.

And you go on, wherever your way will take you, with that last thought of her on your mind.

The End
