Conference, and Stolen from Megan!

Apr 12, 2009 23:36

So, the conference went well!! I managed to not embarrass myself too badly, and the other talks were really interesting, except for the one about Hegel that I couldn't really understand, but that's just because of my own ignorance.

I should be doing hw, but that would be too easy.

Thanks, Meg! )

I enjoyed Olsen in class last Thursday:

"Who has read Moby Dick?"
-Multiple hands are raised-

"...Who has actually made it to the end of Moby Dick?"
-all hands fall-

regarding 21, I think they might have meant George Eliot? but I could easily be wrong. <3 for 23, though. but stop naming short stories from freshman creative writing! and then read this: http://books.google.com/books?id=Guem4QpR0BwC&pg=PA167&lpg=PA167&dq=here+lies+miss+groby&source=bl&ots=V4y9YdPdwz&sig=U9LVknhjm7CNr6AXEtkaqbZDX_M&hl=en&ei=HAvkScyGK47ulQfXqqjgDg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=3#PPA168,M1

George Eliot would make much more sense, I knew that T.S. made no sense, but I couldn't think of anyone else with the name. Pity I haven't read her. One day I should write down a list of all the classics that I still need to read.

And yeah, it's quite sad that I never got around to reading many short stories outside of class, although the Flannery O'Connor one was not from an assignment. You've made me read the Thurber thing before, actually, and I just couldn't remember what it was called ^_^
