I can't wait for you to read the later books in the series! And I don't want to give any spoilers, but I think you'll be really happy with how it develops, especially with that overarching theme of cultures overcoming their xenophobia and distrust of each other. And now I'm going to shut up before I start burbling spoilers! I'll just say: I LOVE these books, and I'm so happy you enjoyed this one.

Sounds charming! And younger-me would surely have loved it; it's got lots of elements I loved in stories.
