Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Rigt, well, I finished the book last Tuesday. I totaled out the hours and it came to a bit over nine hours. But I feel like for once I didn't rush through it and I'm glad. In anycase I have a few comments, not many, just because I don't have much time. So see you under the cut...
1. Snape = Dead. *Sigh* For all that I expected it and then knew it was coming as I read the pages preceding his death I was still in a state of shock afterwards. It was so anticlimactic! But, in a way, I think it was good that JKR did it that way. I think we were all expecting him to die in a giant battle scene... At least I was. So, this way his death made more of an impact.
2. Snapes memories... That was a lovely chapter. God, his devotion to her... I mean yeah maybe his lurking around the playground watching Lily could be construed as creepy, but he was a ten year old boy with a sucky home life who was probably infatuated with her and the idea that they were alike. Just a lost lonely little boy. I'm glad Snape is finally redeemed in everyone's eyes. His never ending love for her is touching. When Dumbledore sees his Patronus and asks him "After all this time?" and he replies "Always." Can you imagine that kind of love, and that kind of guilt. Now we all know why Voldemort was willing to let Lily go free. It is surprising that he would allow Snape something like that hough. Oh, god... Snape... He was a good man.
3. Did it seems like JKR was falling into fandom stereotypes at all? Lily/Snape, Ginny/Harry... There were other things that I can't remember right now.
4. Kreacher was fucking awesome! I love his sudden change of attitude. What a good elf.
5. 19 years later... WTF Scorpius is a terrible name! And Albus Severus Potter is just as bad. I really could not stand how idyllic this future world was. Gag.
6. Lucius and Narcissa are actually concerned parents.Wow, who knew. For the longest time fandom opinion has been that they are the typical rich, preoccupied, demanding parents. Their concern was touching.
