I was reading some Harry Potter fic, and it featured ferret!Draco. Now, I'll read just about anything if it's written well, but I'm always a little wary of ferret!Draco. Do people actually think this is believable

I tend to believe that whatever he might have been before the ferret incident, the idea that he would become a ferret afterwards seems rediculous. I think it more likely that the incident itself would change what he might become. Besides, I see it as far more likely that he'd become some kind of housecat. And anyone who says housecats aren't evil obviously doesn't have a housecat. :D
House cats are evil. :D I agree with you, I think the idea of him being as a ferret was distorted by book four (and that was where the idea originally came from).
Hi there! You don't know me-- I surfed over from the Daily Snitch, hope you don't mind! I just found the topic interesting, as it's one I've given thought to before myself

I can honestly imagine Draco being a peacock...they're beautiful and they know it, but oh-so fragile. And I think I must have a hangover...but.... Draco would make an excellent turkey :D :D
Also in from the Snitch - great post, this topic is extremely interesting.
I don't think a person's potential Animagus form can change throughout his/her life any more than their actualized form can change. The only exception I could buy would be due to a severe, deep and lasting trauma, to the point where the character as s/he was could be considered dead.
There are things about us that do not change as we grow older, the core of our personalities, and my theory is that it is from this part of the self that the Animagus form is chosen.
Malfoy wouldn't ever have been a ferret, I don't think. Ferrets are friendly and playful Hufflepuff-type creatures. Unfortunately, I don't think he will ever be developed enough for a truly educated guess. But I'm going to make one anyway: a cuckoo bird. They are harmless, pretty little things that leave their eggs in other birds' nests, so the foreign bird has to do the work of childrearing. Just my two cents...
