Banned Books Week

Sep 28, 2006 11:03

Found this article online and found it fascinating that the books some of us HAD to read are now considered "objectionable".

Wow.

For the record, I happen to know a Catholic Priest who gives his office staff at the church off to go see Harry Potter movies on opening day. He also watches Charmed. Leave a comment

The one I was surprised to see on there was "How to Eat Fried Worms". Looked it up and it's banned for "encouraging inappropriate behavior". LAME. I thought it was a good book when I read it as a kid. So I turned out more open minded than my peers. Oh Noes! LOL

To clarify: this is actually a top list of the most "challenged" books. As i they aren't banned but these are the ones that have been complained about the most by parents or average smoes. Almost all of these books are still on students middle and highschool reading list, thankfully.
