Things seem to be settling again, I suppose I'll become accustomed to these curse days soon enough, but trying to get about the City when they are in progress is a bit difficult. People kept trying to rescue me, or kidnap me...or perhaps both, it was quite hard to tell at times. But I will admit it brought back some memories.

But I did rather miss ( Read more... )

They say you forget about this place when you get back home again. Maybe that explains the lack of schools around here. I suppose it's not really useful for kids to go to school here because they'll forget what they've learned anyway. I don't know. Just a guess.

I'll go ask my boss about it.

Right. So there's a little problem here.

I can't seem to find my boss anywhere.

Oh dear. People really do come and go around here, don't they? I do hope nothing serious has happened.

Yeah, and one of my colleagues left too. That makes us narrowed down by half. So I guess we could use more people at the moment. I'm gonna have to talk with the one remaining colleague about it.

And your private messages on here aren't really secured that well. I didn't read them! I just noticed that in the coding. If you need help with that, you could ask me. I'm good with computers.

The curses become easy enough to cope with, really. Most are relatively harmless.

Erm. It's hardly comprehensive, but I've done some surveying of my own. The information I've gathered thus far can be found here. I hope to update it as time allows, of course; as you guessed, the unstable makeup of the population makes it rather difficult to keep track of.

That is quite the survey, I think it's a wonderful start.

I could never be upset with you, Romana.

What sort of advice do you need?

That's reassuring, I was quite harsh and it wasn't you I was really angry with.

I'm rather at a crossroads, trying to decide what to do. The City guidelines state that I should have employment and I've been discussing options with a few individuals, namely one Tony Stark. I've also inquired at Torchwood, but with the current leadership, well, disappeared it's been slow.

...you also mentioned I'd gotten involved in politics back home, is there a political structure here, I don't recall seeing anything in the guides.

It would have been alright if it was.

Ohhhh, jobs are good to have. Keeps you from getting bored. Torchwood is brilliant but... Romana, that's not for you.

No, no government other than the Warden.

Oh, dear - law enforcement. That's probably just as well. As I understand it, I won't remember anything when I leave here, so I guess political experience won't really count for anything. Still I thought I'd ask.

So you don't think I would do well at Torchwood? I thought they did a fair amount of scientific research, especially with alien species. I'm hardly unqualified.

Oh, well, I don't really work for Mr. Stark. At least, not much. For long. I kind of got...kidnapped, half-way through.

But he's a very nice gentleman, and he seems awful keen on making sure everybody's got a job. I don't think you'll have any problems finding a position with him.

Long story. Well, not really that long. I just don't remember much of it.

Well, I certainly wouldn't want you to dwell on things best left in the past.
