Yay, you finally got this up! :D Now I can steal it from you. ;)
Winter Rose is the Tam Lin one, right? I remember not liking it either, but I thought that was at least partially to do with it being my first McKillip---and it took four McKillips for me to find one I liked. ;)) What didn't you like about it?
I wonder if Heyer has a lot of annoying heroines who fall for the wrong sort of guy. ;))
I hope you enjoy Cinder when you get a chance to read it. :) Don't expect it to be the greatest fairy-tale retelling ever, but if you just give it a fair shot as a fun retelling, I think you'll like it. :)
Yep. It's hard to remember now what I didn't like about it. :P It didn't seem as strong, overall, as the other McKillips I read, and I believe it was a bit depressing. The whole almost "Love triangle" going on between the MC, her sister, and the young man was a negative for me, as well. Why did he keep acting interested in her and her sister? (If I'm remembering this right) It did not help me like any of the characters involved.
Mh. I couldn't say, not having read more of them!
I think I will. :) I need to put it on hold again.
Yeah, it was all kind of a blur to me too. ;)) That sounds about right from my vague memory too, though I'd forgotten the love triangle until I ran across a comment about it the other day. I'm sure that bugged me too. :P At any rate, if that's how you feel about Winter Rose, you could probably just skip Solstice Wood without any regrets. That was the second one I read (it's a...quasi-sequel or companion novel set in present day) and I liked it even less than Winter Rose. Just in case you were wanting to run out to read it (though, if you were, you can probably just ignore me ;)) ).
Same here. Well, I read one mystery by her, and the lady did fall for a kind of annoying guy, but he was the main character and not near as bad as the guy in Lady of Quality. :P
I probably have some books I should put on hold, but I can't think of them this moment and am also trying to cut down my reading stack. ;))
I read Till We Have Faces too! A professor I really like recommended it, and I'm really glad he did. It's soooo deep...definitely an under-appreciated one for Lewis. I still really want to read The Scorpio Races and Seraphina and even Cinder sometime...but right now I'm in the thick of school reading, so I don't think that'll happen until summer.
This was a fun post to read, though! I love reading about reading :)

I should reread this year, too. It certainly gives one the feeling of having accomplished something once you finish!

Your experience with I Capture the Castle is exactly why I haven't read it yet; though forewarned is forearmed, as they say. ;))
Alas, I don't remember much about Princess of Glass, but why did you think Princess of the Silver Wood was better?
