Superman Returns

We caught a preview showing of Superman late last night, and I don't recommend the 3-D version if you don't have 20/20 vision. There was a faint double image that threw me off through all of those sequences, though the guy in our group with 20/15 vision had no problems with it

I have to agree. The whole Land/Luthor thing was a snooze, but having said that I love Spacey as Lex, so I did not mind too much his scenes.

My problem was Lois. I saw no edge and while the motherly softness was nice it hardly made for a compelling character. Bosworth had a few nice moments (Help Mommy open the door and the roof) but on the whole she left me completely cold. Routh was passable, and certainly looked the part but seemed a little vacant.

I actually turned to my friend an said "Well that was no Batman Begins," as the credits rolled and I realized that with all of the lovely cinematography and emotional arc that Singer brought to the story it was not enough to make the movie more than an unnecessary remake.
