For the record...

I hate this word:

MAGICKIt IS spelled wrong. I don't CARE what Crowley says or does. He spelled it wrong too, and even if the man was here right now I'd say this to his face. He can go hang for all I care. I'm not giving him one ounce of credit beyond what I think is proper ( Read more... )

I'm just a real spelling Nazi, and I see no reason to tinker with a perfectly good word like magic. It smacks of that whole feminist thing that has women spelling that word "wimmin" or "womyn" or other spelling atrocities. It encourages poor grammar and spelling all around, and I've already seen people screw up words like "altar" and spell it "alter" which doesn't mean the same thing at all -- I've also seen "Wikka" instead of "Wicca" -- oh, and before I forget, the whole "magick" thing has led to other spelling atrocities like "majik" or "magik" or whatever. And these people have no clue WHY they do it; most of them don't even know who in the hell Aleister Crowley is!

*headdesk*

You'd think that people who were into magic would know that there is power in words, and when you get into BS like "majik" and "wimmin" and "alters" -- oh man, I can't even begin to wrap my mind around that nonsense. It makes me want to run for the hills.

Hey good to see you around again (it's MeritAset from HoN btw). I've been popping in to read your LJ, I really should comment more.

Hope all is well with you.

Yeehaw you go girl! I really REALLY hate the spelling of womyn or wimmin and I'm a feminist!

I spell it magick nine times out of ten out of habit (a throwback from my thankfully brief fluffy stage) but I correct myself every opportunity I get.

*hugs*
